Click on* help on tool bar, then go to content for more program information. Start: To start game click on* green
flag. To pause click on the red flag. Speed: To set the game speed click on speed (top of screen), move to
speed desired. Moving: Click on Infantry, Artillery or Cavalry, drag the cursor to where
you want to it to move to, a blue line will appear showing location to move to (see blue
arrow going from blue box, image on right).
I click on the soldier but can't draw an arrow? Repeatedly clicking on soldier until arrow
appears. Move more than one: Click on select, select division you can now select
an entire divisions move together. Other multiple moves are by brigade or whole corps. Aiming: click on* aiming image, a window with a
compass opens (see image on right). To change aim click on red rifle or cannon, while
holding down mouse drag the line to new aim direction.
Changing the battlefield view: click one the following button with a
purple arrow pointing in the direction you want to look.
Saving battles: Click on file, select save as, rename file leaving (.gty).

right). Zoom: To make area larger click , to make area smallerclick
Time Line: Timeline is located at the bottom of your screen. Line shows the day
and time of the battle (see image below). Red arrow shows current time of war.

Orders: to change battle orders
click on then click in
white circle to change to: hold position, seek enemy, ask before firing (see image on
right). To disengage orders click on then
click in white circle to change to orders. Engagement and disengagement order window do
not open unless troops engaged in battle. Entrenchment: Select the troops and click on to tell your
troops to dig and build trenches. Entrenchment is a fortifying or defending strategy.
Historical Play: 1.Click on File,
select Open
2.Select the file july1.gty and choose OK. The screen will display the Gettysburg
battlefield as it looked the morning of July 1, 1863.
3.Click on Play, select Historical Play - Union or Confederate allows you to move your
troops as described above, except the troops will still come onto the battlefield and move
just as they did in 1863.
Setting the program to Historical Play both sides you can watch the historical battle
unfold.
Non historical play: Click on Play, select Free Play Union, or Free Play
Confederate. The computer will take the other side and play against you, using artificial
intelligence tactics that are appropriate for its army.
If you select Free Play Both Sides you control both armies.
The troops will come onto the battlefield just as they did in 1863
